Pre-issue certificate check

Understand the checks VoltMate runs on EIC, EICR and Minor Works drafts before issue, what each finding means and how to clear it.

Before you begin

  • A plan that includes inspections and certificate issue (Pro).
  • A certificate draft linked to its inspection.

What the check does

When you open a linked certificate draft, VoltMate compares it with its inspection and compliance record before formal issue. It checks the draft's identity (source, reference, certificate type, client and address), the inspection's readiness, the compliance state and whether the inspection changed after the draft was prepared.

Work through the findings

  1. 1

Open the certificate draft. The check runs and its findings appear at the top.

  2. 2

Fix blocking findings in the inspection or compliance record first; they stop formal issue.

  3. 3

Complete the missing items, reconcile any mismatches, and review each prompt yourself.

  4. 4

Choose Run check again after each change, until nothing blocking remains.

What it does not decide

The check looks for missing, inconsistent or stale information. It does not decide classifications, test results or the final assessment; those remain the competent person's judgement. The full checker guide explains each finding type.

Common mistakes

  • Editing the draft to hide a mismatch instead of correcting the inspection record.
  • Issuing from a draft prepared before the inspection was last changed.

Troubleshooting

If a finding remains after you fix it, reload the draft and run the check again. Findings about stale data clear once the draft is prepared again from the current inspection.
