Authoritative workflow
VoltMate follows the boundary: Inspection / authoritative technical data → Certificate Draft → Review → Issue → Immutable Issued Certificate.
AI and convenience features can assist preparation, but they must not silently decide or alter authoritative test values, observation classifications, declarations or professional judgement.
Prepare and issue

Open Inspections and create or select the correct inspection record.

Record the applicable installation, circuit, test and observation information.

Review observations and the final assessment. Recorded C1 or C2 findings prevent a Satisfactory EICR assessment; FI is advisory and does not by itself force Unsatisfactory.

Complete the compliance/readiness review and any declarations that require the electrician's own judgement.

Prepare and review the certificate draft before issuing.

Issue only when the record is ready and you are satisfied the document is correct.
After issue
An issued certificate version is immutable. VoltMate stores a snapshot hash and links later versions through the previous snapshot hash. If a correction is required, use the amendment/version workflow rather than rewriting issued history.
A certificate can also move through lifecycle states such as amended or void while earlier issued versions remain independently preserved.
Common mistakes
- Treating auto-filled information as reviewed professional judgement.
- Changing observations without re-checking the final assessment/readiness state.
- Trying to edit historical issued versions instead of creating an amendment.
- Confusing cryptographic snapshot integrity with a statement that a certificate is currently valid for use.
Troubleshooting
If certificate preparation is blocked, return to the inspection and review the readiness/compliance messages rather than bypassing them. If an issued document needs correction, locate the current certificate and use the supported amendment lifecycle.
VoltMate software does not certify competence or electrical safety. The competent person remains responsible for inspection, testing, classification, declarations and the final document.
