Cookies & browser storage

Cookies are small pieces of information stored by a website in your browser. VoltMate also uses related browser storage, such as local storage and service-worker caches, for particular functions. This page explains the current categories, our public-site analytics and the choices available to you.

Clerk, our authentication provider, uses cookies and related storage to maintain sessions, protect sign-in and support security or anti-abuse controls. These functions are required to provide the account and security service you request. Blocking essential sign-in storage can prevent you from using authenticated parts of VoltMate.

VoltMate currently uses a single dark appearance and does not require an appearance-preference cookie or local-storage value to select a theme. Older VoltMate releases used appearance storage; current builds ignore and clear those legacy appearance values so they cannot alter the interface after refresh. Other local interface preferences can be stored when you deliberately choose them. These settings are for the service or preference you requested rather than advertising.

VoltMate’s current dark appearance does not depend on a stored theme choice.

The VoltMate web app uses a service worker to support the installed-app experience and selected static resources. It is not intended to cache authenticated dashboard API responses, private business data or failed write requests for later replay. Service-worker caches can remain until replaced, expired by the app or cleared through your browser.

Unsent contact text remains in the current page while you complete the form. Selected-photo previews use temporary browser object URLs. They are not saved as a server-side support enquiry before you submit. Reloading or leaving the page can lose the draft. On submission, the message is processed as described in the Privacy Policy.

VoltMate uses Vercel Web Analytics on a limited allowlist of public marketing and information pages to understand aggregate page usage and referring sources. Our Vercel implementation is cookie-less. Before a Vercel analytics event is sent, VoltMate removes query strings and URL fragments, and private dashboard, API, portal and certificate-detail routes are excluded.

VoltMate also offers optional Google Analytics 4 on public pages. Google Analytics is disabled until you actively choose Allow analytics. If you allow it, Google Analytics can use first-party analytics cookies such as _ga and related _ga_* cookies to distinguish visits and measure public-page usage, referrals and engagement. VoltMate configures the Google tag without Google advertising signals or ad-personalisation signals and limits its analytics-cookie lifetime to up to 90 days from creation rather than continually extending it.

VoltMate deliberately keeps the Google Analytics tag out of private dashboard, API, client-portal and individual verification-detail surfaces. A transition from an analytics-enabled public page into a private surface is handled as a full navigation so the public-page Google runtime is torn down before the private destination loads.

On public pages you can choose Allow analytics or Only necessary. Only necessary leaves Google Analytics off; Vercel's cookie-less public traffic measurement can still operate as described above. Your Google Analytics choice is stored locally in your browser so VoltMate can remember it.

You can reopen the choice at any time using Privacy choices on a public page. If you withdraw permission after previously allowing Google Analytics, VoltMate changes analytics consent to denied, removes accessible _ga analytics cookies and reloads the page so the Google Analytics runtime is removed. Refusing optional analytics does not block the core VoltMate service.

VoltMate does not use the Google Analytics integration for cross-site behavioural advertising, Google Ads remarketing or ad personalisation. We do not treat continuing to browse as consent to optional analytics. If we introduce another non-essential storage or tracking purpose that requires consent, we will explain it and provide a valid choice before enabling it.

Your browser settings let you remove or block cookies, local storage and site data. You can also remove installed-app data through your browser or operating system. Some essential features may stop working if the storage they need is blocked.
