Local electrode
The installation connects its protective earthing arrangement to a local electrode rather than relying on a distributor protective conductor in the same way as a TN arrangement.
Fault path
A fault path can involve the installation electrode, the general mass of Earth and the source earthing arrangement. That path is commonly higher impedance than a dedicated metallic TN fault-return path.
Protection matters
Protective-device selection, electrode resistance and the complete design must be considered together. The visual is a concept model, not a design value or installation instruction.
