Identify and isolate
Identify the correct circuit and isolation point, then operate the correct means of isolation rather than relying on a label or assumption alone.
Secure the isolation
The isolation must remain under control so the circuit cannot be inadvertently re-energised while work is taking place.
Prove, test, re-prove
A suitable voltage indicator is proved before the dead test, used to test the relevant conductor combinations, then proved again so a tester failure is not mistaken for a dead circuit.
