Ring Final Circuit Explained

A ring final circuit leaves the origin, supplies points around the circuit and returns to the same origin, giving two ends of each ring conductor at the origin.

1

Ring topology

The important idea is the return to the same origin. The circuit is not identified as a ring simply because it supplies several socket-outlets.

2

Ring vs radial

A radial leaves the origin and continues along one route without a second circuit conductor returning to the same protective device as the other end of a ring.

3

Why testing differs

Ring continuity testing uses the presence of two ends and characteristic readings to help identify breaks, crossed conductors or other departures.

Key ideas

Two ends of each ring conductor are present at the origin
Testing is used to confirm the actual topology
